About the role
The SEZ Operations Associate supports immigration, regulatory compliance, client onboarding and trade facilitation through Tatu City’s One‑Stop Shop (OSS). This role ensures smooth regulatory processes, timely approvals and a positive experience for clients using OSS services.
Key responsibilities
- Assist clients with SEZ administration, onboarding, incentives and investment opportunities.
- Register clients with relevant agencies and follow up on SEZ Enterprise licences and other approvals.
- Process work permits, visas, investor passes and other immigration documents for expatriates, staff and client companies.
- Provide accurate visa, travel and SEZ advisory services to clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate SEZ compliance support with government bodies (Immigration, KRA, KEBS, SEZA, etc.) during inspections and audits.
- Support investment, tax and customs processes, including gazettement and import/export documentation.
- Maintain documentation frameworks for goods entering the zone and track OSS fees and charges.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date SEZ client and operations registry and act as liaison between Tatu City, clients and regulators.
- Assist the sales team with SEZ‑related advisory for new clients and participate in stakeholder forums.
- Prepare and submit reports on SEZ matters to internal teams and management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, International Relations or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in client advisory, regulatory affairs, government liaison or investment promotion.
- Experience interacting with Kenyan agencies such as SEZA, Immigration, KRA, KEBS is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage SEZ documentation, licensing, compliance and client onboarding processes.
Required skills
- Strong understanding of Kenya’s SEZ, immigration, tax, customs and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and coordination abilities.
- Ability to interpret regulations and provide clear guidance.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication, including report writing.
