Short-Term Accountant (Odoo Specialist)

About the role

An experienced, CPA-qualified accountant is sought for a short-term, project-based assignment in Nairobi, Kenya. The role suits someone who enjoys variety and wants flexible work, with assignments such as client bookkeeping, month-end and year-end support, account clean-up, and Odoo setup and support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts for assigned clients in Odoo
• Process sales, purchases, bank reconciliations and journal entries
• Prepare management accounts and financial statements
• Support month-end and year-end closing
• Assist with VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns through KRA iTax, and with eTIMS compliance
• Set up and configure Odoo accounting modules, charts of accounts and reports for clients
• Train client staff on Odoo where needed
• Clean up and correct historical records
• Document work clearly and meet agreed deadlines

Required profile

• CPA Part 2 qualification
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field is an added advantage
• At least 2-3 years of practical accounting experience, preferably in a practice or consulting environment
• Good knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy)
• Strong attention to detail, integrity and confidentiality
• Able to work independently and deliver within tight timelines; open to short-term and project-based engagements

Required skills

• Hands-on Odoo experience (accounting, invoicing, purchasing and reporting)
• eTIMS integration experience is a plus
