Site MEL Assistant for IRS Projects

About the role

The Site MEL Assistant will support Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities for Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) campaigns in Busia and Siaya counties, Kenya. Working closely with sub‑county MEL staff and the IRS Coordinator, the assistant ensures high‑quality data collection, verification and reporting throughout pre‑spray, spray and post‑spray phases.

Key responsibilities

• Support training of spray operators on MEL tools, indicators and mobile data collection platforms.
• Set up and maintain mobile phones/tablets, SIM activation, charging and application installation for DHIS2 and other digitised platforms.
• Supervise correct use of mobile phones at spray sites, verify daily data for accuracy, completeness and GPS capture.
• Mentor field teams on accurate data collection and indicator understanding.
• Update spray performance tracker, monitor real‑time data flow and produce weekly progress reports.
• Participate in sub‑county review meetings, compile summary reports for the MEL Manager and assist with data verification exercises.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in data collection, monitoring or evaluation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, IT/Computer Science, Public/Community Health or related field.
• Ability to work onsite in Busia and Siaya counties and travel to multiple sub‑county sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection platforms (e.g., DHIS2).
• Basic knowledge of GPS data capture and verification.
• Experience troubleshooting smartphones and data syncing issues.
