Sourcing Back Office Officer - Limuru

About the role

The position holder will help ensure the reliable and efficient procurement of high-quality produce from local farmers, suppliers and markets. The role covers sourcing, price negotiation and supply chain management to meet demand for fresh fruits, vegetables and other products, with an on-site location in Limuru, Kiambu.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and explore new sourcing opportunities with farmers and suppliers to optimise costs, reduce lead times and improve product quality.
• Work with aggregators and lead farmers using data to organise delivery schedules to the packhouse.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules with farmers and suppliers, and build lasting partnerships while resolving issues within the agreed turnaround time.
• Monitor supplier compliance with quality standards and ethical practices, and track market trends to forecast demand and keep inventory optimal.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage stock, minimise wastage and keep products fresh.
• Use the sourcing platform and data trend reports to drive efficient procurement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Proven experience in sourcing, procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the fruit and vegetable industry or food distribution.
• In-depth knowledge of local produce markets, suppliers and farming practices.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and food safety standards.
