Swimming Instructor for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Swimming Instructor to manage and deliver swimming programs for a US Navy facility on Diego Garcia. The role combines pool operation, safety oversight, and instruction for patrons of all ages.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain an 82‑ft × 63‑ft × 12‑ft swimming pool in compliance with NAVMED, NAVSUPPFAC, and CNIC instructions.
• Monitor water quality, filtration systems, and equipment, coordinating repairs as needed.
• Plan and conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups, emphasizing technique, water safety, and skill development.
• Enforce Navy and local safety policies, supervise swimmers, and provide lifesaving interventions.
• Administer first aid, CPR, and AED support during emergencies.
• Deliver excellent customer service, address patron inquiries, and assist with pool events such as competitions or training exercises.

Required profile

• Certification as a Swimming Instructor from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Minimum 1 year of swimming instruction or lifeguard experience.
• Understanding of pool operations, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
