Technical Specialist, Demographic Dividend (P-4)

About the role

The Technical Specialist (Demographic Dividend) will provide expert analysis on population dynamics and support the translation of demographic evidence into policies and programmes, focusing on countries at early and intermediate stages of the demographic transition. The position is based in the Population and Development Branch of UNFPA in Nairobi and reports to the Programme Adviser, Demographic Resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on population dynamics and the demographic dividend for early‑and‑intermediate transition countries.
• Lead and contribute to advanced demographic and economic analyses, including population projections, National Transfer Accounts (NTAs) and Population Situation Analyses.
• Support the development of communication and advocacy products, ensuring technical content is accessible to policy audiences.
• Assist in integrating population data and evidence into policy, planning, and programme design.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in demographic analysis and policy application.
• Experience conducting advanced demographic and economic studies.
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear messages for policymakers.
