Transport Co-ordinator

About the role

Avenue Healthcare is looking for a Transport Co-ordinator in Kisumu to lead, manage and optimise all transport services, ensuring timely, safe and reliable operations. The role covers hospital transport, including emergency and ambulance services, and works closely with the Quality and Compliance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee hospital transport operations, including emergency and ambulance services, with 24/7 readiness and fast response times.
• Supervise outsourced courier services and manage the dispatch desk for patient and document transport requests and vehicle allocation.
• Oversee routine maintenance and servicing of vehicles and motorbikes, and ensure all vehicles meet safety standards.
• Develop and manage the transport budget, track expenses, monitor fuel consumption and vehicle usage, and renew road licences and insurance.
• Organise training on safety, patient handling and emergency protocols, and establish and maintain SLAs.
• Ensure logbooks (mileage, trip records) are completed, drivers receive approved requisition forms and carry only authorised passengers.
• Monitor vehicle use via the Fleet Tracking system, especially at night and on weekends, and report incidents such as delays, mechanical problems and accidents immediately.
• Work with Quality and Compliance teams, uphold regulatory standards and protect client and patient privacy.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Paramedic Science.
• Valid driver's licence, C1 and above.
• Minimum of 2 years in transport or logistics management, with at least 1 year in a healthcare or high-priority setting.
