Wage and Hour Investigator – Regional Enforcement Coordinator

About the role

The Wage and Hour Investigator (Regional Enforcement Coordinator) acts as the principal advisor to senior regional leaders within the Wage and Hour Division. This role oversees the enforcement of multiple labor statutes, guides investigative teams, and ensures compliance across a designated region.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate case files against investigator standards and provide feedback on deficiencies.
• Assess enforcement priorities, select employers for investigation, and recommend appropriate remedies.
• Coordinate program activities with other Department of Labor units, state, and federal agencies.
• Lead comprehensive investigations, often involving multiple district offices.
• Negotiate voluntary compliance, back wages, and liquidated damages with employers and their representatives.
• Identify potential litigation cases and collaborate with the Solicitor’s Office.
• Provide technical advice to investigators on complex or ambiguous cases.
• Develop and deliver specialized training programs.
• Plan and execute public‑relations and educational initiatives about worker protections.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Ability to obtain required security/investigation clearance.
• Probationary period if clearance requirements are not yet met.
• At least one full year of relevant work experience (35‑40 hours per week).
