Website Officer – Digital Strategy

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Website Officer to join its Communication Division in Nairobi. Reporting to the Chief of Digital Strategy and the Head of Web Platforms, you will help shape UNEP’s online presence and ensure its web platforms and Knowledge Repository are accessible, user‑friendly and aligned with the organization’s environmental mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain UNEP’s corporate website, child sites and Knowledge Repository, ensuring alignment with brand identity and strategic objectives.
• Manage web platforms built on Drupal and DSpace, set technical standards, and guarantee accessibility across languages.
• Provide technical guidance to developers, designers and external service providers, and support internal stakeholders in content management and navigation.
• Troubleshoot bugs, resolve technical issues and coordinate with IT or vendors for complex challenges and new application deployments.
• Conduct business analysis, process mapping and requirements gathering to translate stakeholder needs into functional specifications.
• Collaborate with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists and content creators to maintain visual consistency and usability.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing web platforms and content management systems in a multinational or intergovernmental environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to capture business requirements and produce clear documentation.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with diverse internal teams and external partners.
