Company Ombuds – Whistleblowing & Grievance Lead

About the role

The Company Ombuds is the single, named point of intake and ownership for whistleblowing reports and grievances across all markets for BURN. The role receives concerns, opens and manages each as a tracked case, coordinates the appropriate response, and drives every matter to a documented, fair resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the trusted contact for employees, contractors, agents, suppliers and customers to raise whistleblowing reports and grievances in confidence.
• Receive, log, assess urgency and risk, and formally open each matter as a case, acknowledging receipt to the reporter.
• Own each case end‑to‑end, tracking status, timelines and follow‑through until documented resolution or closure.
• Maintain a secure, confidential case‑management system with strict access controls and data‑handling standards.
• Determine the appropriate handling route – informal resolution, management referral or formal investigation.
• Conduct fact‑finding personally or assign investigations to internal functions or external investigators, remaining the custodian of the case.
• Work with managers to agree and implement remedies, corrective actions and outcomes.
• Escalate matters involving senior management, serious risk or independence concerns directly to the CEO or Board.
• Identify recurring themes, systemic issues and emerging risks, providing anonymised aggregated feedback to senior leadership and the Board.
• Publish periodic reports on case volumes, categories, resolution times and organisational trends while protecting confidentiality.

Required profile

• Strong investigative and case‑management experience.
• Deep understanding of whistleblowing, grievance handling and compliance processes.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to work independently and drive matters to closure.
