Customer Service Representative

About the role

The Customer Service Representative will be the first point of contact for patients calling Stony Brook Psychiatric Associates. Working in a fast‑paced medical office, you will schedule appointments, verify insurance, and provide courteous support to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Handle a high volume of inbound calls and schedule patient appointments following established protocols.
• Accurately enter patient information into the scheduling system and conduct insurance verification.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service and resolve or appropriately escalate patient inquiries.
• Route calls to the correct departments and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent telephone etiquette.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain high accuracy in a dynamic environment.
• Preferred: at least 6 months of clerical or call‑center experience, familiarity with physician practice workflows, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
