Data Architect – AI Enablement

About the role

The Co-operative Bank of Kenya is seeking a forward‑thinking Data Architect to lead AI enablement within its Digital Products & Innovation Factory. Reporting to the Head of Digital Products and Innovation, you will shape the enterprise data foundation that powers AI, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Design and govern scalable, secure, and high‑quality data architectures, models, integrations, and pipelines that support AI, analytics, and automation initiatives.
• Drive data governance, quality, lineage, privacy, security, compliance, and audit readiness to ensure trusted AI‑enabled decision making.
• Assess the current data landscape, identify architecture gaps, and define reusable data assets to enhance AI readiness.
• Translate business and AI requirements into practical data solutions, architecture standards, and implementation guidance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to support AI solution delivery, architecture reviews, and enterprise data best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Enterprise Data Management, or Solution Architecture.
• Professional certification in Data Architecture, Cloud Data Platforms, Data Management or Enterprise Architecture is an advantage.
• Exposure or training in AI, machine learning, analytics, or data governance is a plus.
