Paediatric Gastroenterologist (Medical Specialist)

About the role

The Kenyatta National Hospital is seeking a qualified Paediatric Gastroenterologist to join its medical specialist team. Reporting to the Head of Department, the specialist will deliver high‑quality diagnostic, curative, rehabilitative and preventive care to children requiring gastro‑intestinal services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialised paediatric gastro‑enterology consultations, investigations and treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in line with hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and contribute to departmental reporting.
• Uphold the hospital’s standards for quality, safety and patient confidentiality.

Required profile

• Masters of Medicine in Paediatrics or equivalent recognised by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• MBChB degree or equivalent recognised by KMPDC.
• Certification/Fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology from a recognised institution.
• Specialist recognition certificate in Paediatric Gastroenterology issued by KMPDC.
• Current registration and practising licence with KMPDC.
• Professional indemnity cover.
• Physicians with an interest in Paediatric Pulmonology and currently in a pre‑registration attachment are also encouraged to apply.
