About the role
The Project Officer – Fisheries and Beekeeping will support the AGROBLUE initiative, a 36‑month programme aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and a blue economy in Kwale and Tana River counties. Working from Kwale County with regular missions to Tana River County, the officer will help implement climate‑smart, gender‑sensitive interventions for small‑scale farmers and artisanal fishermen.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate project activities across four sub‑counties, ensuring alignment with the consortium’s strategic objectives.
- Facilitate access to technical, financial and infrastructure services for farmers and fishermen.
- Monitor and report on project outputs, including productivity gains, post‑harvest loss reductions and income diversification.
- Support community sensitisation on nutrition, especially for women and children.
- Collaborate with Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and partner organisations to ensure institutional sustainability.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in agriculture, environmental science, development studies or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years experience in project coordination or field implementation in rural development.
- Strong understanding of climate‑smart agriculture, fisheries management and gender‑responsive approaches.
- Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work in multicultural settings.
Required skills
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract (12 months) with possibility of extension.
- Gross monthly salary between KES 80,000 and 100,000, commensurate with experience.
