Senior Finance Officer – Maternity Cover (Nairobi)

About the role

ACTED is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to provide maternity cover for its Nairobi mission. The role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, cash‑flow management, and compliance with ACTED procedures and Kenyan regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and consolidate accounting entries for the Nairobi office and field bases, supporting monthly and annual closures.
• Coordinate and execute payments, maintain cash forecasts, and manage advances, loans, and statutory obligations.
• Ensure finance vouchers and supporting documents are complete, approved, coded, and filed, and support audits and compliance reviews.
• Assist the Finance Manager with financial reporting, project cost control, and monitoring of expenditures against budgets.
• Collaborate with Finance, Logistics, Compliance, Programme and other departments on financial matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification or progress towards CPA/ACCA is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in an INGO or humanitarian organization.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan statutory financial and tax requirements and internal financial controls.
• Proven ability to supervise junior finance staff and work under tight deadlines.
