Waiter / Food & Beverage Attendant

About the role

Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi is looking for an enthusiastic entry‑level Waiter / Food & Beverage Attendant to join its dining team. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will help deliver a memorable dining experience for hotel guests.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and tear down service stations, ensuring equipment and supplies are organised.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests and serve them professionally.
• Provide prompt, courteous service and build rapport with guests.
• Handle cash transactions accurately in line with hotel procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of menus and communicate offerings confidently.
• Assist at the bar when needed and supervise outlet operations.
• Manage special dietary requests by coordinating with kitchen and bar staff.
• Monitor buffet stations for replenishment, cleanliness and guest needs.
• Clear used crockery and maintain a clean dining environment.
• Support training and mentoring of junior staff members.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in food and beverage, preferably in a luxury hotel.
• Operational knowledge of a Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong guest‑service orientation and ability to balance multiple priorities.
