WASH Capacity Mapping and Talent Management Consultant

About the role

The consultant will support UNICEF's WASH Global Acceleration Investment Programme (WASH‑GAP 2030) by designing and implementing capacity‑mapping and talent‑management strategies. The focus is on building a resilient WASH workforce that can deliver climate‑smart services at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply the WASH TEAM (Technical, Entrepreneurial, Analytical, Managerial) framework to map existing capacities across target countries.
• Design structured capacity‑building pathways for different career stages and roles.
• Create talent‑management systems that promote career progression, mobility, and retention, including a dedicated Women in WASH pathway.
• Provide guidance on market‑based approaches, private‑sector engagement, financing analysis, and systems thinking.
• Collaborate with national authorities, private partners, and UNICEF teams to ensure alignment with programme objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, international development, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH programmes, workforce development, or talent management in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated experience working with multi‑stakeholder partnerships and gender‑responsive approaches.
