Accountant – 70-75K (Nairobi)

About the role

The client is a well‑established laboratory and consultancy services provider seeking a hands‑on Accountant to manage day‑to‑day financial operations. The role focuses on accounts payable/receivable, payroll, inventory control, statutory compliance and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, ensure timely payments and maintain accurate supplier records.
• Prepare client quotations, issue invoices, manage accounts receivable and follow up on collections.
• Maintain accounting records, produce monthly financial reports and perform bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
• Run monthly payroll, calculate statutory deductions and submit required returns (PAYE, NSSF, VAT, etc.).
• Control inventory of laboratory consumables, support stock‑taking and investigate variances.
• Monitor operating expenses, manage petty cash and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• CPA(K) qualification and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including AP, AR, payroll and inventory management.
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and payroll deductions.
• Experience in a laboratory, consultancy or similarly operational environment is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software.
• Ability to produce accurate financial reports and perform reconciliations.
