Chief Community Officer (CCO)

About the role

The Chief Community Officer (CCO) reports directly to the CEO and sits on the executive leadership team of a globally recognised health organisation. The role is responsible for strengthening equitable engagement, participation and influence across a diverse international community, ensuring community voices shape strategy and long‑term sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and evaluate a global community and membership strategy.
• Lead engagement, partnership, learning, events and participation programmes.
• Create clear pathways for contributors, volunteers and leaders to engage, develop and influence.
• Foster collaboration across a complex international network.
• Strengthen key relationships and ensure community‑focused initiatives deliver meaningful impact, inclusion and value.

Required profile

• Senior leader located in the Global South with extensive experience in scientific, research or health environments.
• Deep commitment to evidence‑informed healthcare and experience in mission‑led, complex international networks.
• Track record in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Proven ability to lead organisational change, embed new ways of working and translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
• Inclusive, authentic leadership style that builds trust and champions equitable participation.
