Community Oral Health Officer

About the role

The Community Oral Health Officer provides comprehensive dental care and preventive education within community settings. This role combines clinical duties with outreach activities to improve oral health awareness and access to care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough oral examinations and interpret dental X‑rays.
• Diagnose and manage common oral conditions, performing procedures such as scaling, polishing, simple extractions, and applying temporary or permanent fillings.
• Provide pain management and basic emergency oral care, referring complex cases as needed.
• Educate patients and the public on oral hygiene, participate in school health programs and wellness camps, and promote disease‑prevention initiatives.
• Maintain clinic operations by preparing, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, keeping accurate patient records, adhering to infection‑prevention protocols, and monitoring supply inventories.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
• Valid registration and practicing license from the relevant regulatory board.
• 1–3 years of post‑internship clinical experience in a busy dental clinic or hospital.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
