Accountant – Full-time, Nairobi

About the role

HAK & AMERSI LLP is seeking a full‑time Accountant to join its Nairobi office. The role involves day‑to‑day bookkeeping, preparation and review of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with Kenyan tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger records and perform account reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries.
• Prepare and file tax returns in line with local regulations.
• Assist with internal and external audits and generate financial reports for clients.
• Respond to accounting inquiries and provide timely financial insights.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in financial accounting or bookkeeping.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; progress toward CPA or equivalent is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kenyan tax compliance and audit procedures.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Competence in spreadsheet tools for data entry, analysis and reporting.

What we offer

• Gross salary between 40‑60 k, negotiable based on skill level and experience.
