Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is seeking an Assistant Director to lead its supply chain management function. This senior position will shape policies, oversee procurement and asset disposal, and ensure compliance with government regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review supply‑chain policies, strategies, plans, regulations, procedures, standards and guidelines in line with applicable laws.
• Coordinate institutional procurement and asset‑disposal planning, including user‑requirements consolidation, budgeting and scheduling.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end procurement process – requisitioning, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, award and contracting – ensuring transparency, competitiveness and value for money.
• Provide professional advice on complex procurements, contract negotiations and other supply‑chain matters.
• Manage supplier performance, contract administration and update procurement information on government portals.
• Coordinate inspection, verification and acceptance of goods, works and services and ensure proper documentation for payment processing.
• Monitor supply‑chain performance, identify risks and compliance gaps, and implement improvement measures.
• Lead, mentor and build capacity of the supply‑chain team, promoting professionalism and integrity.
