Business Development Manager – Africa Market Expansion

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Business Development Manager to open new markets and grow our presence across Africa. This execution‑focused role will involve identifying high‑potential countries, building local relationships, and converting opportunities into revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize new African markets based on demand, competition, and commercial potential.
• Develop market‑entry plans including target accounts, local partners, product fit, pricing, and pipeline forecasts.
• Establish and nurture relationships with banks, fintechs, payment service providers, mobile operators, distributors, and government‑related organisations.
• Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, needs analysis, proposal coordination, product demos, negotiation, and closing.
• Maintain a credible pipeline with clear next steps, deal values, probabilities, decision‑makers, and expected close dates.
• Assess and manage local agents, distributors, or strategic partners to accelerate market entry.
• Collaborate with product, technical, operations, finance, and legal teams to craft viable customer solutions.
• Track tenders and major opportunities, qualify early, and coordinate internal submissions.
• Provide market intelligence on demand, competitors, pricing, regulation, and emerging trends.
• Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, and partner discussions across the region.

Required profile

• Strong business development or enterprise sales experience in one or more African markets.
• Proven ability to open new markets, build relationships from scratch, and close deals independently.
• Comfortable travelling frequently within the region and operating autonomously.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
