Cashier & SHA Compliance Officer

About the role

The Cashier & SHA Compliance Officer ensures smooth patient admission by managing billing, insurance documentation, and compliance with SHA (private insurance) regulations. This role bridges finance and patient services within a hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patients and guardians with information on required documentation for admission letters of undertaking.
• Verify that SHA premiums are up‑to‑date and guide patients on payment methods, including private insurance.
• Process private insurance and SHA billing, generate accurate invoices, and communicate billing details to patients and donors.
• Identify patients in need and refer them to social workers for assistance.
• Conduct follow‑up calls to remind patients of admission requirements and insurance approvals.
• Maintain precise transaction records and ensure all SHA claims adhere to guidelines.
• Invoice SHA claims monthly, submit them on time, and perform monthly reconciliations of SHA accounts.
• Reconcile daily revenue with the Chief Accountant and prepare weekly cash collection reports.
• Assist with insurance claim issues, cheque disbursement, petty‑cash payments, and receipt entry when accounting staff are absent.
• Participate in mobile clinic finance coordination, support stocktaking, and uphold OSHA cleanliness standards.

Required profile

• Experience handling patient billing, private insurance, and SHA documentation.
• Familiarity with SHA claim guidelines and monthly invoicing processes.
• Ability to perform financial reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, guardians, donors, and internal teams.
