Clerk of Works – Interior Fit Out

About the role

The Clerk of Works will lead the delivery of interior fit‑out works for a residential house project in Tatu City, Nairobi. This hands‑on position coordinates trades, resolves technical issues on site and ensures that all interior works meet quality, schedule and cost expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day‑to‑day interior fit‑out activities on site.
• Manage sequencing and integration of trades such as partitions, ceilings, joinery, tiling, flooring, decorative finishes and MEP interfaces.
• Provide technical direction to contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to programme and quality standards.
• Oversee installation of fixtures, fittings, appliances, sanitary ware, bespoke joinery, cabinetry and specialist interior elements.
• Prepare short‑term work plans, maintain daily site logs and track workforce, material usage and emerging issues.
• Resolve design, detailing and buildability issues on site, producing sketches, clarifications or technical notes as required.
• Develop or contribute to method statements, construction sequencing plans and installation strategies.
• Verify field measurements and as‑built conditions before installation.
• Coordinate procurement, delivery and storage of interior materials, manage samples and mock‑ups for client approval.
• Maintain a material and finishes register and ensure proper handling of specialist materials.
• Prepare quality checklists for key residential spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, wardrobes, staircases and living areas.

Required profile

• Proven experience in interior fit‑out projects, preferably residential.
• Hands‑on approach to site coordination and trade management.
• Ability to work closely with design and construction teams to resolve technical issues.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
