Commis Chef - 5 Star Hotel

About the role

The Partnership Agency is looking for a passionate and disciplined Commis Chef with experience in a 5-star hotel or luxury hospitality environment. The role supports senior chefs in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes while upholding the culinary standards expected in a luxury kitchen. It calls for strong attention to detail, strict adherence to hygiene standards and efficiency in a fast-paced kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking dishes according to recipes and hotel standards, including washing, chopping, portioning and marinating ingredients.
• Support kitchen sections such as hot kitchen, cold kitchen, pastry or butchery as assigned, and help prepare stocks, sauces and garnishes.
• Ensure mise en place is complete before service and that workstations are organized, stocked and ready.
• Follow presentation and plating guidelines, keep portions consistent and support the Chef de Partie.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene, store and label food properly, and keep workstations clean and sanitized.
• Help senior chefs during busy service, communicate well with the kitchen team and look after kitchen equipment.
• Learn advanced techniques under senior chefs and rotate through kitchen sections to gain broader experience.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production or a related field.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a 5-star hotel or luxury hospitality kitchen.
• Solid understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen; strong teamwork, discipline and willingness to learn.
