Communications and Public Relations Officer

About the role

The Partnership Agency is hiring a Communications and Public Relations Officer for its aak-GROW/CropLife Kenya programme in the agriculture and crop protection sector. Reporting to the CEO, the officer plans, develops and executes integrated communication and PR initiatives that shape public discourse, manage stakeholder relationships, support advocacy and lead crisis communication, while promoting responsible pesticide use and countering misinformation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run communication and PR strategies, advise leadership and lead high-impact campaigns
• Create press releases, policy briefs, reports, speeches and digital content, keeping brand messaging consistent
• Build media relationships, coordinate media engagement, organize press briefings and handle misinformation
• Run crisis communication frameworks and manage responses to negative publicity
• Engage government agencies, regulators, industry partners and development organizations, and represent the organization at high-level events
• Lead digital and social media strategy, monitor online conversations and run internal communication
• Plan and oversee events, CSR initiatives and campaigns on responsible pesticide use
• Manage the communications budget and resources

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field
• Mandatory membership in the Public Relations Society of Kenya
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations or corporate affairs
• Preferred: experience in agriculture, regulatory, media, public policy or development sectors, and with government and industry bodies

• Social media management and digital communication tools
• Basic graphic design (Canva); Adobe Creative Suite, SEO and Google Analytics are advantages
• Strong writing, editing, public speaking and stakeholder engagement
