Compliance Analyst - AML/CTF/CPF

About the role

A bank in Nairobi is looking for a Compliance Analyst to support its AML/CTF/CPF programme. The role covers transaction monitoring and reviews, reporting to the MLRO, and acting on alerts and suspicious activity.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and regularly review AML/CTF/CPF controls, including sanction and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, SAR management, adverse media review and investigative orders management.
• Analyse transactions and relationships to detect patterns, trends, anomalies and schemes.
• Help run a bank-wide risk awareness training programme and keep up with AML/CTF/CPF regulations, sanctions and terrorist financing issues.
• Ensure AML/CTF/CPF procedures meet regulatory requirements, close management actions from compliance reviews and regulator reports, and report control weaknesses to the manager.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the AML/CTF/CPF programme to the MLRO and recommend mitigations.
• Execute instructions from the Manager Compliance / Senior Manager Compliance and handle alerts, suspicious transactions, blacklisting and communications to the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related course or equivalent; a recognized AML certification is highly preferred.
• At least 2 years of banking experience in AML/CTF/CPF within an Enterprise Risk Management function.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and identify irregularities.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical compliance concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Thorough understanding of local and international financial crime regulations.
