Credit Manager – Origination & Portfolio Growth

About the role

Pesapal is looking for a commercially driven Credit Manager to expand its merchant lending portfolio. This role focuses on turning proprietary transaction data and credit scores into increased borrowing activity, working closely with digital credit providers and banks.

Key responsibilities

• Own disbursement, active borrower and outstanding loan book targets across markets and partner programmes.
• Design and manage the end‑to‑end origination funnel, from merchant identification to offer, application, partner approval and disbursement.
• Activate dormant merchants, diagnose non‑drawdown reasons and drive repeat borrowing and limit utilisation.
• Collaborate with Sales, Relationship and Merchant Success teams to equip them with credit positioning tools.
• Maintain day‑to‑day relationships with lending partners, overseeing joint pipelines, performance reviews and alignment of pricing and limits.
• Translate market learnings into digital origination rules, eligibility criteria and limit logic for automated scaling.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit origination, merchant lending or fintech credit products.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of growing loan books.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with data science, operations and partner teams.
• Excellent analytical mindset to convert market insights into automated decision rules.
