Credit Risk Advisory Lead

About the role

The Credit Risk Advisory Lead will head KPMG’s credit risk and capital advisory practice across East Africa. Based in Nairobi, you will work with banks, fintechs and other financial institutions to design and implement robust risk frameworks, regulatory strategies and analytical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex credit risk, capital management and regulatory transformation engagements for clients in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia.
• Advise on credit risk governance, risk appetite, portfolio management and credit strategy.
• Support Basel implementation, ICAAP, stress testing, recovery planning and capital management initiatives.
• Oversee IFRS 9, credit modelling, model validation and risk analytics projects.
• Drive innovation through data, analytics and technology‑enabled risk solutions.
• Build and maintain senior client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Mentor and develop high‑performing advisory teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk, financial risk management or regulatory advisory within the financial services sector.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale transformation projects for banks or fintech organisations.
• Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and regulators.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑development capabilities.
