Facilities Attendant – Institutional Facilities & Hostels

About the role

The Facilities Attendant will support the safety, security, cleanliness and general upkeep of Amref International University’s institutional facilities and student residences. Responsibilities include routine inspections, maintenance reporting, key management, meeting‑room preparation and event support, while ensuring emergency equipment is functional.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce hostel visiting‑hour policies and monitor time‑keeping.
• Uphold safety and security standards, patrol premises and report hazards.
• Check that security lights are operational and coordinate repairs.
• Manage issuance, tracking and safe return of keys with accurate records.
• Conduct daily inspections of operational areas to identify maintenance, safety or cleanliness issues.
• Coordinate and supervise cleaning and housekeeping activities to maintain hygiene standards.
• Oversee movement, storage and proper use of equipment and furniture.
• Prepare meeting rooms by arranging tables, chairs, equipment and other requirements.
• Assist in event setup, on‑day support and breakdown.
• Ensure emergency readiness equipment such as first‑aid kits, fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures are in place and functional.

Required profile

• Certificate in Housekeeping, Administration, Facilities Management or equivalent; a diploma is an added advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience in hostel, facilities or property management.
• Knowledge of university operations is desirable.
