Finance & Budgeting Specialist

About the role

The Finance & Budgeting Specialist will lead ACAPS' budgeting, forecasting and financial performance analysis. Working closely with finance, grants and programme teams, you will ensure high‑quality financial planning, accurate budget management in the Deltek Maconomy ERP, and provide strong financial support to programmes and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain day‑to‑day budget control and monitoring for all assigned budgets and grants.
• Initiate and coordinate the project budgeting process in Maconomy, drafting and uploading budgets, and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Prepare and update budget‑vs‑actual analyses, identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead forecasting and re‑forecasting cycles, incorporating operational and financial developments.
• Provide analytical inputs for donor and management reporting, including dashboards and explanatory notes.
• Support proposal budgeting, ensuring compliance with ACAPS and donor rules, and advise on cost eligibility.
• Assist budget holders in financial discussions with donors and negotiate grant financial requirements.
• Contribute to financial governance, policy adherence and continuous improvement of finance support functions.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis in a humanitarian or non‑profit context.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Deltek Maconomy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with finance, grants and programme teams.
• Attention to detail and commitment to compliance with donor regulations.
• Proactive attitude towards improving financial processes and reporting.
