About the role
The Hospital Administrator will lead the day‑to‑day operations of a healthcare facility in Kakamega, ensuring efficient service delivery, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and a high‑quality patient experience. Reporting to senior management, the role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of staff, budgets, and performance metrics.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and coordination of daily hospital operations.
- Drive achievement of operational, financial, quality, patient‑experience, and growth targets.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational plans, budgets, and performance‑improvement initiatives.
- Monitor revenue, expenditures, collections, cost control, and resource utilization; act on variances.
- Identify and implement opportunities for revenue growth, service expansion, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure adequate staffing, workforce deployment, performance management, and employee engagement in partnership with HR.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery across all departments.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare laws, licensing, accreditation standards, and quality‑management systems.
- Champion quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track patient experience metrics, handle feedback, and resolve service‑related concerns.
- Prepare regular performance reports highlighting achievements, gaps, risks, and corrective actions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Services Management, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in healthcare administration or management, preferably in a hospital or private‑healthcare setting.
- Proven experience managing healthcare operations, people, and facility performance.
- Strong understanding of quality management, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and accreditation requirements.
- Good grasp of healthcare financial and operational performance, including revenue cycles.
