Human Resource Officer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Human Resource Officer to establish and grow our HR function in Nakuru. You will be responsible for building HR policies, managing talent acquisition, and ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour legislation while supporting our manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and develop the HR department and framework.
• Create, review and implement HR policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, induction and talent acquisition processes.
• Design and manage performance management systems.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary actions and grievance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan labour laws, OSHA, NSSF, SHA, PAYE and other statutory requirements.
• Develop HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Coordinate training, learning and employee development initiatives.
• Oversee payroll inputs, leave administration and employee records.
• Drive employee engagement, culture and retention programmes.
• Prepare HR reports, metrics and workforce planning recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Higher National Diploma (HND) or CHRP‑K qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years setting up or transforming an HR function.
• Strong knowledge of the Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, OSHA, NSSF, SHA, PAYE and other Kenyan statutes.
• Proven recruitment and talent acquisition expertise.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with HRIS systems.
