Human Resources Administrator – Hospital (Maua, Kenya)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Administrator to lead the HR and Administration functions of a growing hospital in Maua, Meru County. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of the employee lifecycle in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and supervision of the HR and Administration department.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning & development, employee relations and separation for a workforce of ~100 staff, including 20+ medical consultants.
• Ensure compliance with the Kenyan Employment Act, labour regulations, and healthcare sector standards.
• Oversee payroll processing, staff benefits, leave administration and statutory reporting.
• Advise senior management on workforce planning, talent management and organisational development.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and best practices.
• Handle disciplinary and grievance matters, fostering a positive employee‑relations culture.
• Supervise general administrative operations to support efficient day‑to‑day hospital activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field; Higher Diploma in HR Management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years progressive HR experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, managing a workforce of around 100 employees.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and healthcare HR practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Age 35 years or older, high integrity and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
