Human Resources Officer – West Pokot Mine

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will lead HR activities at the West Pokot Mine Site, ensuring fair, compliant recruitment, employee relations, payroll input control and contractor workforce governance. Reporting to the HR Manager, the role also supervises an HR Assistant and works closely with site leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site recruitment using the approved local employment framework and maintain full documentation of selection decisions.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary actions and grievance cases in line with the Employment Act.
• Control payroll inputs for permanent staff, casual workers and contractors, validating attendance and payment worksheets.
• Enforce contractor workforce compliance and advise site leadership on people matters.
• Supervise and coach the HR Assistant to achieve audit‑ready standards.
• Audit all personnel files, contracts and casual registers within the first 30 days and close gaps.
• Agree on approved casual headcount and implement weekly worksheet validation with the Site Manager and Accountant.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
• CHRP‑K certification, IHRM membership and a valid HRMPEB practising certificate.
• Minimum 4 years of HR generalist experience, including at least 2 years on a mining site with a large casual workforce.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan Employment Act and Mining Act 2016 local employment obligations.
