Investment Manager – Impact Investing in Africa

About the role

The Investment Manager will join Airbel Ventures, the impact‑investing arm of the International Rescue Committee, to source, evaluate and manage early‑stage investments that deliver strong humanitarian impact and financial returns across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Deal Sourcing: Identify and build relationships with startups, accelerators, incubators and investors throughout Africa.
• Due Diligence: Lead market analysis, financial modeling, impact assessment and risk evaluation, and prepare Investment Memos for the Investment Committee.
• Portfolio Management: Provide strategic guidance, fundraising support and impact monitoring for portfolio companies, coordinating with IRC country programs and technical teams.
• Strategy Development: Contribute to sector mapping and refine investment theses across focus areas such as climate, health, education and economic opportunity.
• Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement: Represent Airbel Ventures at regional investor networks, events and conferences to raise visibility and forge partnerships.
• Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with IRC internal teams to align investment activities with humanitarian objectives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in early‑stage venture investing or related fields.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to assess both financial returns and social impact.
• Passion for humanitarian outcomes and familiarity with the African venture ecosystem.
