Kitchen Steward - Five-Star Hospitality

About the role

A client in the hospitality industry is hiring a disciplined, hardworking Kitchen Steward to support the back-of-house in a fast-paced five-star environment. The role covers keeping the kitchen clean and sanitary, washing dishes and equipment, managing waste and complying with food safety and hygiene procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans and kitchen equipment promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, workstations, storage areas and food preparation areas.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and organization of kitchen equipment and supplies.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff with basic kitchen preparation and operational support when required.
• Dispose of waste and keep garbage collection areas clean, following hygiene and safety procedures.
• Refill cleaning supplies and notify supervisors of low stock; operate dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment safely.
• Follow food safety, health, sanitation and workplace safety standards.
• Assist in keeping the kitchen clean during conferences, banquets and large events, and respond quickly to cleaning requests from kitchen and food and beverage teams.
• Support deep cleaning schedules and routine kitchen maintenance.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in hospitality; a certificate in Food Production, Hospitality or a related field is an added advantage.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Kitchen Steward in a hotel, restaurant or hospitality setting (mandatory).
• Experience in a busy or five-star setup is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long hours, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
