About the role
The University seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Pharmacognosy (Phytochemistry) to teach Bachelor of Pharmacy students. The role involves delivering lectures, supervising laboratory work, and contributing to curriculum development within a vibrant academic environment.
Key responsibilities
- Teach and assess Pharmacognosy courses for the B.Pharm program.
- Supervise student laboratory sessions covering phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.
- Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital content.
- Participate in curriculum development, program review, and accreditation activities.
- Secure research grants and engage in collaborative research projects.
- Mentor students in academic and research activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean.
Required profile
- B.Pharm or M.Pharm in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products) or related field.
- PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences is an advantage.
- Minimum three years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).
- Strong background in laboratory techniques for natural products research.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).
- Proficiency in High‑Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
- Proficiency in Gas Chromatography‑Mass Spectrometry (GC‑MS).
- Proficiency in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
