Material Management Specialist

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Material Management Specialist in Mombasa, Kenya. The role covers managing material inventory, overseeing procurement and keeping storage facilities compliant with safety and operational guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage material inventory, keep adequate stock levels and track usage and restocking schedules
• Oversee procurement, including ordering, receiving and issuing materials and supplies
• Monitor storage facilities for proper handling, storage and distribution in line with safety and operational guidelines
• Verify materials meet specifications and resolve quality, shortage or damage issues
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, transactions and audits
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on timely delivery and backorders
• Support material management procedures and collaborate with operational departments on needs assessment and forecasting
• Ensure safety and environmental protocols are followed for HAZMAT or regulated substances
• Prepare inventory and material usage reports for management review

Required profile

• Three years of experience in material management, handling, procurement, inventory control or related roles
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid passport valid for at least one year at hire, able to travel internationally and obtain country-specific visas
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements, maintain operational readiness during deployment and hold facility credentials
• Preferred: bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration; CIPM or APICS certification; prior military or government procurement experience; HAZMAT knowledge; remote OCONUS or austere environment experience
