Mathematics & Business Studies Teacher (Kenya)

About the role

Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of a client school, is seeking enthusiastic teachers to deliver Mathematics & Business Studies (and related subject combinations) to secondary learners in Machakos, Kenya. The role involves planning and delivering curriculum‑aligned lessons, assessing student progress and contributing to the school’s academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons in the assigned subjects in line with the approved curriculum.
• Develop learners' knowledge, critical thinking, problem‑solving and communication skills using learner‑centred approaches.
• Assess, record and report on learners' academic progress through assignments, continuous assessments, practicals and examinations.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes active learning.
• Integrate appropriate teaching resources, technology and practical activities to enhance lesson delivery.
• Prepare learners for internal and national examinations.
• Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance and assessment results.
• Foster positive relationships with learners, parents and colleagues.
• Participate in co‑curricular activities, departmental meetings and other school programmes.
• Uphold school policies, professional ethics and safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Mathematics & Business Studies, Mathematics & Computer Studies, Biology & Chemistry or English & Literature.
• Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience in the relevant subject combination.
• Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is an advantage.
• Strong communication, organisational and classroom‑management abilities.
• Ability to use modern teaching methodologies and ICT tools.
