Mortician - 2 Positions

About the role

A funeral home based in Kabati, Murang'a County, is looking for two skilled and compassionate morticians to provide professional care and preparation of deceased persons while maintaining dignity, respect and confidentiality. The position is full time and pays KShs 40,000.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, preserve and present deceased persons according to mortuary procedures, and perform embalming where qualified and required.
• Receive, identify and document deceased persons on admission, and keep storage, movement and release procedures orderly.
• Keep mortuary facilities, equipment and work areas clean and well maintained.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, use PPE and comply with health, safety and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain accurate mortuary records, verify identification and authorisation before releasing remains, and prepare reports for management.
• Interact with bereaved families with compassion and professionalism, providing guidance on preparation procedures and keeping all information confidential.
• Keep equipment and tools in good condition, report faults or safety concerns, and follow funeral home policies and legal requirements.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Mortuary Science, Funeral Services or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in a mortuary or funeral services setting.
• Professional embalming training is an added advantage.
• Integrity, professionalism, attention to detail, compassion and emotional maturity.
