About the role
The Pastry Trainee will join the kitchen team at Kempinski Hotels in Nairobi, learning the fundamentals of pastry preparation and kitchen operations under the guidance of the Training Manager and departmental trainers.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain a hygienic kitchen and personal hygiene standards.
- Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant’s menu.
- Assemble and prepare ingredients for menu items.
- Assist with checking, receiving and storing of goods and maintain storage areas.
- Clean and re‑set the working area after each service.
- Follow occupational health, safety, first‑aid, fire and emergency procedures.
Required profile
- Degree or Diploma in Culinary Arts from a recognized institution (completed coursework acceptable).
- Kenyan citizenship.
- Less than one year since completion (expected 2025/2026).
- Ability to work and communicate in a multinational environment.
Required skills
- Excellent grooming and professional etiquette.
- Good communication skills with a positive learning attitude.
