People & Culture Manager

About the role

A leading Kenyan insurer, listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and part of a financial services group active across Africa, is looking for a People & Culture Manager to lead its human capital agenda. The role develops and implements HR strategies aligned with business objectives, strengthens employee engagement and oversees talent management, employee relations, HR compliance and organizational development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a People & Culture strategy, advise the executive team on people matters, champion diversity, equity and inclusion, drive change management and track HR metrics.
• Oversee recruitment and onboarding, lead succession planning and leadership development, run engagement, wellness, team-building and recognition programmes, and strengthen retention.
• Ensure compliance with local labour laws, manage employee relations, grievances and disputes, update HR policies and lead risk management.
• Optimise HR processes through automation, oversee HRIS and data analytics, manage the HR budget, analyse HR reports and recommend new HR approaches.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a related field; an MBA is an added advantage.
• CHRP (K) or equivalent certification, and membership in IHRM, SHRM or a similar professional body.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role in a fast-paced organization.
• Proven expertise in organizational culture, talent management, employee relations and strategic HR leadership.
