Project Officer - Cash & Markets

About the role

The Project Officer will plan, implement, monitor and document cash and market transfer activities in semi‑arid counties of Kenya, supporting vulnerable communities through cash‑based assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement all humanitarian cash & markets activities, including food assistance, beneficiary identification, registration and cash distribution.
• Conduct market assessments, stakeholder engagement, and capacity‑building trainings for staff, partners and community members.
• Monitor budgets, ensure compliance with World Vision standards, and produce regular reports for the Project Manager and National Office.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with government ministries, local authorities, mobile network operators and financial service providers.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in cash & voucher programming, market price monitoring and cash‑for‑work interventions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Kiswahili and English, both written and spoken.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Economics, Statistics or related field; postgraduate training in M&E or related discipline is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with mobile network operators and financial service providers.
• Ability to set up and use digital monitoring systems (e.g., LMMS) for beneficiary registration and cash distribution tracking.
• Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research.
