Project Officer – Mentor for Refugee Youth Business Development

About the role

The Project Officer – Mentor will guide refugee youth entrepreneurs participating in the NYOTA Refugee Business Development Services programme, helping them build viable and sustainable enterprises through structured mentorship and practical business advice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group mentorship to refugee youth entrepreneurs, conducting regular check‑ins and progress reviews.
• Reinforce Business Development Services (BDS) training, help participants troubleshoot challenges, refine business plans and stay accountable to agreed goals.
• Advise on strategic planning, financial management, marketing and day‑to‑day operations, and facilitate linkages with local entrepreneurs, markets, finance providers and other support services.
• Maintain documentation of mentorship contacts and progress, coordinate with the Team Leader and DRC project staff, and participate in mentor training and supervision.

Required profile

• Extensive practical experience running a business and mentoring entrepreneurs, preferably in refugee or displacement‑affected settings.
• Strong knowledge of core business areas such as strategic planning, financial management, marketing and operations.
• Demonstrated ability to support inclusive mentorship for women and persons with disabilities.
• Minimum secondary education; vocational or professional training in business, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing or management is an advantage.
