Quality Assurance Assistant (Food Manufacturing)

About the role

The Quality Assurance Assistant will ensure that raw materials, packaging, and finished food products meet the highest quality and safety standards. You will support the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and ISO 22000 within a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sample and analyse raw materials, packaging and finished products against specifications.
• Segregate rejected items to prevent cross‑contamination and maintain traceability.
• Provide analytical results that guide approval or rejection decisions for all inputs and outputs.
• Monitor fortification of wheat and maize flours and conduct daily organoleptic assessments.
• Track and report any quality or food‑safety non‑conformances during operations.
• Supervise prerequisite programs, including CCP, OPRP and PRP monitoring, and report deviations.
• Conduct GMP surveillance, correct abnormalities on the spot, and train production teams.
• Implement and maintain the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System, update records, and perform internal audits.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 month of relevant experience in food quality or safety.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP and ISO 22000 standards.
• Proficiency in QMS (Quality Management System) processes.
• Experience with chemical analysis and nutrition content testing.
• Ability to perform organoleptic assessments of flour products.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and CCP monitoring.
• Familiarity with pest‑control monitoring and corrective actions.
