Security Officer

About the role

The Social House is hiring a full-time Security Officer in Westlands, Nairobi. The role keeps the hotel's guests, staff and visitors safe and secure, and works closely with other departments such as Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering and Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, staff and visitors, and safeguard hotel property, equipment and guest belongings.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents and emergencies, including fire, medical and evacuation situations.
• Control access to restricted areas and sensitive locations, and ensure visitors, contractors and service providers follow access procedures.
• Conduct scheduled patrols, monitor CCTV and CCTV footage, and report suspicious or unusual activity.
• Monitor parking areas, loading zones and vehicle movements, and report safety and security hazards.
• Keep master, emergency and restricted-area keys secure and accountable, and handle lost and found items properly.
• Protect sensitive guest, staff and hotel information and provide accurate security handovers between shifts.
• Ensure security equipment is operational and report defects, and take part in security, emergency response and guest service training.
• Work with other departments to keep the hotel secure and operate on time during every shift.

• Efficient, systematic and able to prioritise without compromising standards or attention to detail.
• Determined, taking ownership and following issues through under pressure.
• Expressive, communicating confidently and respectfully with discretion and firmness where needed.
• Technical security knowledge is important.
