Security Officers (Entry Level) - IPOA Nairobi

About the role

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is recruiting two entry-level Security Officers (Grade IPOA 9) for its Security Services Directorate in Nairobi. The Security Cadre manages and coordinates all security operations in the Authority, which provides civilian oversight of the police. The consolidated salary is KSh 90,000 to 130,000 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, systems, plans, standards and procedures affecting security services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Coordinate outsourced security services.
• Conduct internal investigations and gather intelligence to strengthen security in the Authority.
• Carry out weapon handling and armed security operations, and conduct surveillance and access control operations.
• Take part in security risk analysis and surveys, and provide close protection and security escort services.
• Provide security updates and advisories, and support capacity-building and disaster management programmes on security matters.
• Update department records and collect and collate data for internal and external reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Security Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
