Security Operations Officer

About the role

The Security Operations Officer works within the Administration / Security department in Athi River and reports to a designated manager. The role monitors and coordinates security operations to protect company premises, employees, visitors and assets, oversees the outsourced security provider, ensures compliance with company security procedures, identifies risks and reports incidents to management.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the daily security operations and service delivery of the outsourced security provider.
• Conduct routine security inspections to identify risks, security gaps and areas needing improvement.
• Monitor compliance with access control, visitor management, vehicle inspection and goods movement procedures.
• Review security occurrence books, incident reports, shift handover records and other relevant documentation.
• Report and follow up on security incidents such as theft, unauthorised access, loss of property and breaches of security procedures.
• Liaise with the outsourced security provider on service delivery, staffing gaps and operational issues.
• Support emergency preparedness, incident response and security drills.
• Recommend improvements to security procedures and prepare periodic security reports, escalating significant risks and incidents to management.
• Coordinate with other departments to implement security controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, Security Studies or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in security operations, loss prevention or corporate security.
• Experience with outsourced security service providers is an added advantage.
• Good report-writing, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills; high integrity, professionalism, attention to detail and sound judgement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of access control, security risk assessment, incident reporting and emergency procedures.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and report preparation.
